EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing” has been proven to be effective with resolving the impact of trauma symptoms. Using eye movements and other forms of bilateral stimulation, disturbing memories are reprocessed.

EMDR can decrease the impact of disturbing memories as well as changing the feelings, thoughts and behaviors resulting from a distressing experience.

Trauma and other disturbing experiences don’t just live in our brains, they live in our bodies. When the brain hasn’t been able to properly process the traumatic events, these events can continue to affect us. Vivid and distressing memories, nightmares and hypervigilance may be common. You might feel intense fear or feel frozen when you encounter something (or someone) that reminds you of the trauma. Unresolved trauma can have you believing things about yourself that are not true such as “I am not good enough”, “I am defective”, “It was my fault”.

Trauma is a liar

You don’t have to continue to live like this or feel like this.
